Zoom why are music lyrics getting more explicit? i understand that music is a form of art, but some of the content is getting too explicit for public entertainment. i’m talking about hip hop in particular. i love hip hop, but not everyone listening to hip hop is at a mature age where they can turn certain messages in lyrics off & on. there are so many young listeners who are being exposed to material they are not ready for.
when i say “material they are not ready for”, i don’t mean profanity. i mean: images and phrases. specifically, a bunch of females in rap and r&b are talking about sex & sexual acts in their music and this may be their way of liberating themselves from years of bad exposure rappers gave women, but where’s the class? what are their lyrics teaching younger girls? where are the positive messages? our bodies are not our only method of change.
some people need a hug & a role model. seriously.
